The Shadow of Comparison

By Justin V Gates

Comparison is one of the quietest ways darkness enters the human heart. It rarely appears as something dramatic or obvious. Instead, it slips in through subtle feelings of superiority or silent resentment toward the success of others.

Axiom of Light: “Disdain for those below you and envy for those above you is the way of darkness.”

This Axiom reminds us that both arrogance and envy distort our perception of reality. They convince us that life is a ladder where some people stand above and others stand below. Yet the deeper wisdom of Ashla teaches that existence is not a hierarchy but a living web of connection.

The Living Light surrounds and penetrates all things. It binds the Universe together. Every thought, action, and intention moves through this network, creating ripples that influence each in the whole.

When we act with contempt toward another person, we are not only diminishing them. We are creating disharmony within the larger whole of which we are also a part.

Disdain is born from arrogance. It convinces us that we are superior, that another person’s worth is less than our own. But when we look closely, this belief is built upon illusion. Every individual carries a unique story, a different struggle, and a different path toward growth.

The Luminari understand that worth is not measured by status, wealth, or recognition. In the eyes of the Force, every life holds intrinsic value.

Resentment operates from the opposite direction but leads to the same darkness. Where arrogance inflates the self, envy diminishes it. It poisons the heart by convincing us that another person’s success somehow reduces our own potential.

But the Universe is not a limited resource. One person’s Light does not extinguish another’s.

When we envy someone, we overlook the gifts already present within us. We forget that each person walks a path uniquely shaped by their experiences, their efforts, and their calling. To envy another’s success is to deny the abundance of the Universe itself.

The antidote to both disdain and envy is compassion and contentment.

Compassion reminds us that every individual is navigating their own trials and growth. Contentment allows us to appreciate our own path without measuring it against the journey of another.

When you celebrate another person’s success, you strengthen the integrity of the whole. When you extend a helping hand to someone who struggles, you reinforce the unity that the Light represents.

Every thought and action sends ripples outward. When those ripples are rooted in compassion, they elevate the entire web of life.

The Luminari walk a path where comparison gives way to connection. They understand that every being is a traveler in the same vast Universe, learning, evolving, and searching for meaning.

When we release disdain and envy, we begin to see others clearly.

Not as rivals.
Not as inferiors.
But as fellow travelers.

And in that recognition, the Living Light grows stronger.
